Why does my programmer display "The LPT Driver can't be opened"? (LabTool-48/148C/848) |

| The problem is caused because the user has not un-install the previous program, forget to restart computer, open the program more than two times, or login non-administrator (on NT or Win2000). |

| The main operation during the installation procedure is updating newly Win drivers, which drivers are modified. If the Win drivers have not been copied to the correct directories, or have not been started, then the software will not work correctly. |
| |
| However, the failure of opening drivers is due to some other procedures. |
| |
We have made a patched file consists of the Win drivers and auto registry procedures. The patched file is named 'AecDrv5.exe', which is attached in this e-mail. |

Please follow the steps, |
- Check the LPT1 setting is 'ECP+EPP' mode from the BIOS setup (press 'Del' key at the power on).
- Using the 'Add or Remove programs' from control panel, uninstall all software for Advantech programmers (LT-40S, LT-41S, LT-48, LT-148C, LT-848, LT-48XP).
- Delete all subdirectories for Advantech programmers (e.g. C:\Program Files\AEC\WLT48XP).
- Execute 'C:\WINDOWS\regedit.exe' (C:\WINNT\regedit.exe for NT or Win2000).
- Find 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Advantech Equipment Corp.'
- Delete 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Advantech Equipment Corp.' and its content.
- Save 'AecDrv5.exe' into 'C:\' (or any directory).
- Execute 'AecDrv5.exe' (the files are extracted into the 'C:\AecDrv5' directory).
- Open the directory 'C:\AecDrv5'.
- Check your system.
a. If your PC is Windows95, then execute the file 'Remove95.bat'
b. If your PC is Windows98, then execute the file 'Remove98.bat'
c. If your PC is WindowsMe, then execute the file 'RemoveME.bat'
d. If your PC is Windows2000, then execute the file 'Remove2k.bat'
e. If your PC is WindowsNT, then execute the file 'RemoveNT.bat'
f. If your PC is WindowsXP, then execute the file 'RemoveXP.bat'
- Restart your computer.
- Execute the 'wadv462.exe' (or wadv???.exe).
- Execute 'Setup.exe' from the DISK1
- Open the directory 'C:\AecDrv5'.
- Check your system.
a. If your PC is Windows95, then execute the file 'Setup95.bat'
b. If your PC is Windows98, then execute the file 'Setup98.bat'
c. If your PC is WindowsMe, then execute the file 'SetupME.bat'
d. If your PC is Windows2000, then execute the file 'Setup2k.bat'
e. If your PC is WindowsNT, then execute the file 'SetupNT.bat'
f. If your PC is WindowsXP, then execute the file 'SetupXP.bat'
- Restart your computer again.
- Execute the software 'LabTool-48' (LabTool-148C, or LabTool-848) ICON.
- If the failure of opening drivers was found, then close the program of LabTool-48 (LabTool-148C, or LabTool-848) and go to step 10.
